Motorex fills top-five at Dakar 2019

As the dust settles on a thrilling 2019 Dakar Rally, assessment of the final results sees Motorex-powered riders dominating the standings, with the Swiss oil and lubricant supplier filling the top-five places.

The 41st running of arguably the world’s toughest race was held entirely in Peru, and with approximately 75% of the timed special stages contested in deep sand the stresses on machinery were huge. More so than ever, reliability was key, and Motorex products including Cross Power oil and off-road focussed chain lube kept the racing machines running as efficiently and reliably as possible, while the brand’s silicon spray kept everything protected from the extreme conditions.

Toby Price ran out the victor, and was joined on the podium by Mathias Walkner and Sam Sunderland, making it a Motorex and all-KTM top three. Motorex was also the oil and lubricant supplier of choice for Pablo Quintanilla and Andrew Short, who finished fourth and fifth on their Husqvarnas.

The result sees Motorex live up to its mantra of race proven, with the Swiss brand using the knowledge and experience gained through competition to deliver the highest standard of oils and lubricants to its customers.

Derek McMartin, managing director for Bickers – the importer and distributor of Motorex in the UK – commented, “Motorex strives to deliver the very best products on the market, and there is no finer proving ground than the Dakar rally. This year’s event in particular required teams and riders to be confident in their machines and their reliability when negotiating extreme terrain and conditions, and again Motorex has proven it is more than up to the challenge. We’re delighted with the result, and it’s great for customers to know that when they buy Motorex they are buying the very best.”

Motorex also enters 2019 as reigning AMA supercross champions and world MXGP and MX2 champions, having powered Jason Anderson to glory in 2018, along with Jeffrey Herlings and Jorge Prado. It also picked up its first podium in MotoGP in 2018, as Pol Espargaro – a former Moto2 champion with Motorex – finished third at Valencia.
